REsearch in Port Economics & Policy (REPEP)
REsearch in Port Economics & Policy (REPEP) is an academic research group aiming at generating knowledge about seaports. The members of the group are affiliated with the Department of Shipping, Trade & Transport (STT), University of the Aegean, in Greee and are actively involved in academic, as well as contract, research in port economics, management, and policy. The teaching activities of REPER include specialised courses on the Economics & Management of Ports, and on Port Planning and Policy. These courses are offered to the students of the Business School of the Aegean University in Greece. They are also offered to other audiences in Europe or else, via lectures and assignments based on the output of REPER research activities and the most recent developments in port studies. The flagship teaching programme of the group is the Jean Monnet programme in European Port Policy (EPP). This has been the first ever European University course devoted entirely to the multidisciplinary analysis of the progress towards a European Union Port Policy. The programme is funded by the European Commission since 2003, and has recently secured funding until 2013. REPEP members collaborate with an extensive international network of academics interested in seaport studies and research in Europe, North America and Asia. Such collaborations are further advanced via the leading participation of REPEP members in relevant international scientific associations, like the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME) and the Port Performance Research Network (PPRN). All these activities have resulted in an extensive list of relevant publications. The PortEconomics.gr initiative is devoted to the dissemination of the activities of the members of the Group.
The last two months, REPEP members presented and discussed invited and peer reviewed studies at major port events: - 'Vision for Port Infrastructure: Implications of the Crisis', 10th Turkish Transportation Forum (September 30-October 1, Istanbul, Turkey).
